SIT

Sonic measuring has become an important tool to reduce the risk upon foundation failure caused by pile damage. As a result of the strong rise of in-situ piling, a control method has been developed by Profound. Profound, pioneer in the field of professional pile testing research and equipment, has over 50 years worldwide experience. Nowadays, over 100,000 piles are annually tested with Profound equipment in the Netherlands; worldwide this equals more than 5,000,000 sonic tests.

The SIT-series (SIT/SIT⁺/SIT^pro) enables you to accurately and efficiently verify the integrity of foundation piles after installation. With a SIT model, you can check the pile length and detect irregularities and/or cracks in the pile shaft. A SIT-model is robust, light, easily portable and operates fully digital. One person can test numerous piles per hour.

The SIT-system is easy to use: press the accelerometer onto the pile head while striking the pile head with a hand held hammer. The system directly registers the impact of the response of the hammer blow. This measurement signal is directly shown on the display for quality check of the measurement. Enhanced features of the SIT accelerometer include very low noise level and enable you to detect even smaller defects in piles. The signal can be stored in the memory of the SIT-system together with other information such as pile number, date, time and site. Measurement results can be downloaded to a Windows computer via USB for further analysis.
