Mozambique, Foundations of bridge over Zambezi River
||Placing tubes for bridge foundation
The Mozambica branch of our customer TREVI SpA, has recently completed the installation of the foundation piles for the new bridge over the Zambezi river, in Tete. This bridge is the fifth one over this long African river and it's the second one build by TREVI, This Caia bridge was built a few years ago.
The new bridge is about 1600 meters long. It crosses the 650 meter wide river 30 piles with a diameter of 2000 mm. The viaduct on land has 50 piles of 1200 or 1800 mm diameter, with depths down to 70 meters. These piles on land have been bored with a SOILMEC SR-100 rig, while the piles on water have been drilled with the reverse circulation drilling method working from a floating pontoon. All piles in the water have a rock socket (in sandstone and coal) for several meters.
